NHMFL Facilities & Services
The National High Magnetic Field Laboratory is a National Science
Foundation funded facility for providing high magnetic fields to anyone
who needs them. Its three main subdivisions are the
DC Field Facility at Florida State University
in Tallahassee, the
Pulsed Field Facility
at the Los Alamos National Laboratory in Los Alamos, New Mexico, and the
Microkelvin Facility
at the University of Florida in Gainesville.
The magnets and instruments of the NHMFL are now available to users. This
document descibes the facilites and services available.
Use of the NHMFL facilites is free - there is no charge except for some
consumable supplies. Magnetic fields, measuring instruments, cryostats,
and staff support are all provided. Users provide the samples and
perform the experiments. Collaboration with NHMFL staff is possible but
not required. Please contact Bruce Brandt for
information on the high field facility at Florida State
University or Larry Campbell for
information on the pulsed field facility at Los Alamos.
