The National High Magnetic Field Laboratory is a National Science Foundation
funded facility for providing high magnetic fields to anyone who needs them.
Its main subdivisions are the DC field facility at Florida State University in
Tallahassee, the pulsed field facility at the Los Alamos National Laboratory in
Los Alamos, New Mexico, the Ultra-High B/T facility at the University of
Florida in Gainesville, and the Center for Interdisciplinary Magnetic Resonance
(CIMAR), headquartered at Tallahassee. CIMAR contains groups focussing on
nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR), electron magnetic resonance (both electron
spin and cyclotron resonance) (EMR), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and ion
cyclotron resonance (ICR).
This pamphlet describes the facilities and services available as of March,
1995. It is available as a printed document and electronically through the
NHMFL World Wide Web site. To access the latter use the following URL address:
http://www.nhmfl.gov. This document appears as the Users page.
The NHMFL facilities are available to qualified users by a
proposal process that is designed to provide quick initial access. There is
usually no charge to the user except for consumable supplies like liquid
helium. A list of contact people for all of the facilities listed is at the
end of this brochure. Any of the people listed will be happy to help
prospective users get started.
